Venunye Dordor, the suspect, a father of five and a teacher at Ave-Afiadenyigba RC Basic School, has allegedly drowned three of his children in a water reservoir at Ave-Afiadenyigba in the Akatsi North District of the Volta Region.
The suspect, believed to be mentally ill had a misunderstanding with his wife who resided in Anloga after which the suspect allegedly threw three (3) of his children two boys, and a girl, aged four, nine and 11 years respectively, into the reservoir and also in an attempt to kill himself.
Mr Isaac Sowu Newton, the Assembly Member of the area who said he received distressed calls from residents in the area about the incident, mentioned that the Ave-Dakpa Police were called, the bodies of the children had since been retrieved and conveyed to the St Anthony Hospital morgue at Dzodze for preservation and autopsy.
He said the suspect, believed to be in his 40s, is currently in police custody helping with investigations.
He added that the police would soon come out with their findings at the appropriate time.
