Unleashing Potential: Embark on a Life-Changing Journey with the UNICEF Internship 2023

The UNICEF internship offers a unique opportunity to actively contribute to the organization’s work plan in Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) and Primary Health Care (PHC) within the Health Section. Interns will play a vital role in enhancing UNICEF’s capacity for HSS through a range of activities, including quantitative and qualitative analysis, knowledge product development, advocacy and policy briefs, as well as reviewing reports in relevant areas.

As part of UNICEF’s commitment to achieving its strategic goals, particularly in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and Universal Health Coverage, the organization recognizes the significance of strengthening national systems to provide sustainable and high-quality services, especially for children. The internship programme aligns with this objective and aims to facilitate direct and virtual-based conversations with internal and external stakeholders, contributing to the overall work plan.

By documenting programmatic actions and experiences from HSS Learning Program trainees and graduates at various levels, including country, regional, and headquarters, the internship will support staff members in their HSS and PHC efforts towards Universal Health Coverage. This, in turn, will help UNICEF achieve its strategic goals of ending preventable maternal, newborn, and child deaths, promoting the health and development of all children, and reducing health inequities.

Interns participating in this assignment will be placed within the HSS unit of the Health Section, Program Division, at UNICEF Headquarters. They will report to and work closely under the direct supervision of the HSS Health Specialist, playing a crucial role in supporting the unit’s engagement on capacity building initiatives.
