Andrew Tate, the controversial internet personality and his junior brother, Tristan Tate, have been ordered to be detained in police cells for a month on Friday. Special prosecutors in Romania claim these two individuals are responsible for some human trafficking and rape cases.
On Thursday, Policemen in Romania have combed five homes and arrested four prime suspects in custody for further investigation– two Britons and two Romanians.
Romania’s Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) said the four suspects were detained for an initial 24 hours. A Bucharest court signed and accepted a paper by DIICOT to hold the Tate brothers in custody for a further 30 days, their lawyer Eugen Vidineac on informed on Friday.
Outside the court, Eugen Vidineac told reporters that the ruling would be appealed. The most extreme preventive measures permitted by the criminal procedure legislation, he continued, “from our perspective, there are no reasons for taking them.”
According to DIICOT, the four suspects conspired as part of an international criminal organization to smuggle people from Romania to the United States and Britain.
According to the authorities, two of the accused transported victims to Romania where they later sexually exploited them using physical force and compulsion. They allegedly tricked the victims “into believing that they planned to enter into a marriage/cohabitation relationship.”
Authorities also claimed that one of the accused sexually assaulted a victim twice in March 2022. According to the DIICOT statement, the organized criminal group “sexually exploited” at least six victims.
DIICOT released an edited, blurry, occasionally out-of-focus footage of the raids on Thursday. Police can be seen patting down a man. In the video, it’s unclear who is being held captive.
Officers from the criminal agency can be seen escorting Andrew and Tristan Tate into police vehicles in a different footage that CNN affiliate Antena 3 showed.
The Matrix deployed their agents, Andrew Tate tweeted on Friday from his verified account.
Former professional kickboxer Andrew Tate is well known for his internet rants that have gone viral regarding male supremacy, feminine submission, and wealth. He was previously blocked from all of the major social media sites for openly supporting violence against women, but Elon Musk restored his Twitter account after taking over the business.
He gained notoriety earlier this year when many adults, including teachers, expressed concern about the misogynistic notions he was inculcating in the brains of so many young boys. His TikTok account had roughly 11.6 billion views before it was deleted.
This week, he gained notoriety for a Twitter exchange with Swedish environmentalist Greta Thunberg, who admonished Tate to “get a life” after he wrote about his several vehicles’ “respective massive emissions.”
Online rumors claimed that the existence of a specific pizza box in one of the pictures Tate shared during his altercation with Thunberg alerted police to Tate’s presence in Romania.
A representative for DIICOT, however, reportedly told Reuters that the pizza boxes had no bearing on the detentions.
