4 Difference To Note Between a CV and a Resume

So is there really a difference between a Resume and a curriculum Vitae(C.V)?

Most job applicants have no idea there is a difference between a Resume and a CV

This could let your application for job be unsuccessful. Under normal circumstances, employers would specify what they want, be it a Resume or a CV. This literally means that there`s a difference between a resume and a cv.

An employee should be mindful about this.

As you continue to read, i will gist with some differences you should know between a CV and resume .

The term Curriculum Vitae is  a Latin phrase which means “ course of life “. It is a document of personal advertisement for opportunities such as employments, scholarship and grants.

On the other hand ,the word Resume originates from the French language which means a Summary.

Difference To Note Between a CV and a Resume

In order to list your qualifications for a position, job applicants must generate a formal document called a Resume. A personalized cover letter that is included with a resume typically conveys interest in a particular position or business and attracts attention .

A Resume and a CV are two similar documents that provide some form of information about an individual. They are however noted to be separate documents in some countries and institutions (especially USA).

Usually a CV gives details of the necessary information such as education and work experience whilst a resume presents a concise account , usually of ones’ skills and qualifications.

Difference To Note Between a CV and a Resume

1. A CV is a comprehensive 2-20 pages or more whereas a Resume is concise

  1. References are included in a CV whereas they are not In a Resume..

3. CV is more oriented to academic credentials whereas Resume is a non-academic credential but emphasizes on skills

4. Education is mentioned at the top of the CV whereas it is mentioned after experience in a Resume
