In Ghana’s Western North Region, there is a teacher training institution called the Wiawso College of Education. Since the college was founded in 1952, it has remained committed to giving students the best training programs available.

Supported Teaching in Schools (STS)

The college’s Supported Teaching in Schools Unit aims to give teachers a variety of useful skills, principles, and information so they can deliver high-quality instruction. The institution partners with local schools to satisfy their diverse requirements while also giving Wiawso institution locations for practicals, student teaching, and internships in order to accomplish the aforementioned objectives.

Wiawso College of Education Entry Requirements

WASSCE Applicants to Wiawso College of Education

Credit passes (A1-C6) in 6 subjects, three core subjects and three electives, relevant to the course of study.

SSSCE Applicants to Wiawso College of Education

Passes (A-D) in 6 subjects, three core subjects and three electives, relevant to the course of study.

Applicants awaiting WASSCE and NABPTEX results can also apply to Wiawso College of Education.

GCE Advance Level Applicants

  • Passes in 3 subjects; at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better
  • Credit passes (grade 6) in 5 GCE Ordinary Level subjects

ABCE/GBCE Applicants

  • Passes in 3 subjects; at least one of the passes should be Grade D or better
  • Credit passes (grade 6) in 5 GBCE subjects

Technical and Vocational Education and Training Applicants

  • Certificate II in 3 relevant trade areas awarded by TEU, NVTI, City & Guilds and any other authorized bodies in addition to NABPTEX certificate II
  • NABPTEX Certificate II in relevant trade areas and 3 credit passes in WASSCE/SSSCE Core subjects including English and Math.
  • National certificate II in CBT awarded by TEU on the NTVETQF

Foreign Applicants

  • Applicants should be referred to the National Accreditation Board for determination of eligibility.
  • SAT, TOEFL, etc. cannot be accepted
