Vodafone Ghana’s ‘Code like a girl’ kicks-off

The gender gap in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) sectors needs to be closed.

Women continue to be underrepresented in STEM fields despite substantial advancements in many aspects of gender equality, with only 28% of women currently employed in STEM fields.

Vodafone Ghana has unveiled the most recent iteration of its “Code Like a Lady” campaign. To address this issue and encourage more females to pursue STEM education and employment, there is a free coding programme for girls between the ages of seven and eighteen.

The programme will go for five weekends and provide girls the chance to pick up fundamental coding skills in a welcoming setting.

The virtual initiative, which aimed to assist 1000 girls in exploring the world of coding, began on April 1. Programming languages like Python and JavaScript were introduced to them, and they cooperated to solve coding problems.

“The goal of our programme is to empower and motivate girls to follow their passions and acquire the skills necessary for success in the technology sector.

Hannah Ashiokai Akrong, human resource director of Vodafone Ghana, stated, “We intend to promote gender equality in STEM by providing a secure and inclusive space for females to learn and thrive.

In order to promote a shift towards a more inclusive future, Vodafone Ghana continues to encourage more girls to pursue STEM education and employment.

Vodafone Ghana is eventually promoting a movement towards a more inclusive future by giving females the tools and support they need to be successful in STEM.
